Mexico City

Mexico City, or Ciudad de México CDMX, is the capital of Mexico. Built on the ruins of the Aztec city of Tenochtitlan, it was the capital of the Viceroyalty of New Spain.

Located in the central part of the country, it is considered one of the world's largest and most populous cities.

It has a rich historical and cultural heritage, with a blend of Spanish and European influences that can be seen everywhere in its architecture. You'll find numerous museums, historical and religious sites and cultural attractions.

Among Mexico City's most outstanding sites and attractions are the National Museum of Anthropology, the Zocalo (the city's main square), the Palacio de Bellas Artes and Chapultepec Castle. A little further from the capital is the majestic site of Teotihuacan, with its Pyramid of the Sun and hot-air balloon rides. The famous Xochimilco canals are a must-see in the south of the city, where you can take a ride on the gondolas to the rhythm of mariachi music.
